Laws and Ordinances

§257-11: No Urinating in Public.
§257-3: Defacement of Property/Graffiti.
§124-2: Prohibition on Open Burning.

Penalties encompass fines ranging from $250.00-2000.00 per person, per incident; imprisonment, up to 90 days or community service, up to 90 days.

§91-9a: Possession or consumption of alcohol by underage persons or private property.

Fine of $250.00 for first offense, $300.00 for any subsequent offenses. The court may suspend/postpone your driver’s license for up to six months.

§224-1: Littering
§224-3: Obstruction/nuisance on sidewalks and other areas.
§224-4 Responsibilities:

  • All garbage must be placed in containers.
  • No disposal of garbage in a public area.
  • Keep the sidewalk clear.

§240-1 Noise: it is prohibited to make, continue or cause any loud, unnecessary or unusual noise or any noise which annoys, disturbs, injures or endangers the comfort, repose, health, or safety of others within the township.

Examples: Animals and birds; noise between 10pm and 7 am; operating a pile driver, steam shovel, pneumatic hammer, or other appliance; the operation of a radio, phonograph, loudspeaker, sound amplifier, or other device; or yelling, screaming, slamming car doors, and throwing glass bottles away.

§225-6: No parking of vehicles on lawns, no storing tires in the open, and no leakage or residue from the car is permitted.
§39:4-135: Cars must be parked headed in the direction of traffic (that is, on the right-hand side of the road, expect on one-way streets), parallel with the street, and no more than six inches from the edge of the roadway.

You are responsible for the actions of your guests if they drink, even after they leave your house. If the police are dispatched to your house, be pleasant and cooperative: you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.
